Community Clean-Up Exercises

Action is at the heart of the Asanteman Anti-Pollution Coalition (AAPC). While our education and enforcement campaigns lay a vital groundwork, the physical transformation of our environment requires hands-on, community-driven dedication. Our Community Clean-Up Exercises are a powerful testament to collective civic responsibility. Operating from our headquarters in Konongo and extending across Asanteman, we successfully mobilize citizens, market women, drivers, and local businesses to actively take back our streets, lorry parks, and public spaces from the grip of plastic waste and filth.

These clean-up exercises are not isolated events, but a sustained, structural movement. Every last Saturday of the month, we proudly partner with Churches, Mosques, Youth Groups, and local Clubs to conduct massive, coordinated clean-up drives. Working alongside the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly Task Force, our dedicated volunteers labor to de-silt choked drains—preventing devastating floods during the rainy season—and clear illegal dumping sites that threaten public health. By working shoulder-to-shoulder, we foster a profound sense of environmental ownership among all participants.

Beyond merely sweeping our streets, our clean-up initiatives are tightly integrated with our broader "Green Community" projects. As we remove waste, we advocate for and facilitate the placement of communal waste bins to prevent future littering at the source. Furthermore, we actively promote the greening of cleared spaces to restore the natural beauty of Asanteman. This dual approach ensures that our clean-ups provide lasting solutions, directly supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals by promoting good health (SDG 3), clean water (SDG 6), and sustainable cities (SDG 11).
